An application made by Wickramaratne Nadun Chinthaka alias Haraka Kata requesting an order to present him in open court was rejected today (18) by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodharagama.
The suspect made the request while connecting via Zoom when the case filed against him for travelling abroad by preparing a fraudulent foreign passport using forged documents was called.
The Chief Magistrate then informed the suspect to make the request through the lawyer representing him.
The Chief Magistrate also stated that the relevant orders will be issued if it becomes necessary to produce the suspect in court.
The case was called for trial, and the Department of Immigration and Emigration appeared before the court to provide evidence, with the Chief Magistrate warning the witness to appear on a future date.
The Chief Magistrate ordered the case to be called on the 23rd of next June for further trial.
