A 25-year-old woman and a young man were arrested by officers of the Polonnaruwa Police Crimes Investigation Division with eight grams and 970 milligrams of the drug 'Ice.'
According to the Police, the young woman and man were arrested while placing the drug Ice in various places using the location method after identifying information via WhatsApp.
It is revealed that a mastermind in Dubai operates the racket.
The arrested woman is a resident of the Welikanda area, and it is reported that she engaged in this racket after separating from her husband and leaving her daughter, who is about three years old, with her mother.
Police said that she, who became addicted to Ice, started to engage in this racket as a way to continue the use.
They told the Police that around 1,000 and 1,500 rupees get deposited into the accounts of these suspects from each trafficked packet.
The arrested duo is to be produced before the Polonnaruwa Magistrate's Court.
