Agri sector expands to new industries: MP Sunil Biyanwila

Parliamentarian Sunil Biyanwila says a major revolution is currently taking place in the local agriculture sector.

He made these remarks in Parliament yesterday (20).

He also said that a programme has been prepared to strengthen the dairy farming sector, aiming to increase daily milk production.

The Parliamentarian further stated that a plan is being developed to promote grass cultivation as an industry in order to reduce the burden on farmers.

He noted that during the recent economic crisis, paddy farmers were also severely affected, but after his government came to power, abandoned paddy fields were brought back into cultivation.

As a result, he said, higher yields were achieved in the last Maha season.
