The Colombo High Court postponed the announcement of the verdict in four corruption cases against former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena, until June 9.
Colombo High Court Judge Mohammad Mishaal issued the order.
The verdict was scheduled to be announced today (26). The four cases were filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations against Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against Sarana Gunawardena.
However, when the cases were called today, the Judge announced that the judgments were not yet ready.
Accordingly, the Judge ordered that the verdict will be announced on June 9.
The CIABOC filed these cases against the former deputy minister, alleging that he caused losses to the government in 2006 while serving as Chairman of the National Lotteries Board by obtaining vehicles on a rental basis for the institution.
