Considering the current health situation, dansal organisers should pay top attention to cleanliness and food quality when preparing cooked meals, said Community Medicine Specialist Dr. Thilanga Ruwanpathirana of the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health.
He made these remarks at a press briefing held at the Health Promotion Bureau.
He further stated that instead of offering soft drink-based dansals, organisers should consider providing hot beverages such as tea, coffee, brewed coriander (koththamalli) and herbal drinks, to prevent the spread of certain infectious diseases at present.
He also noted that public health inspectors in the relevant areas will monitor these activities during preparation, operation, and even after the conclusion of dansals.
