The Colombo Fort Magistrate, Pasan Amarasena, differed an order regarding a request made by the Attorney General, which will be declared on the 10th of this month.
The Attorney General requested an order to be issued to the Director General of Health Services to present the former State Intelligence Service Director Major General Suresh Sallay (Rtd), who is detained and interrogated under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, before a specialist medical board and call for a report.
The Magistrate announced this when a motion submitted by President's Counsel Shavindra Fernando on behalf of Suresh Sallay was considered before the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court today.
Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris, appearing in court on behalf of the Criminal Investigation Department, requested the court to appoint a specialist judicial medical board through the Director General of Health Services to examine the health condition of the former State Intelligence Service Director Suresh Sallay, who is being interrogated under detention orders.
Meanwhile, President's Counsel Shavindra Fernando, appearing in court on behalf of the suspect, requested the court to provide a suitable environment to obtain treatment for his client, stating that since entering detention, his client has suffered from anxiety and depression and shows suicidal tendencies.
