The Sri Lanka Navy rescued a fishing vessel and its three fishermen who had become stranded in deep waters north of Sri Lanka due to adverse weather conditions, yesterday (07).
The vessel had encountered severe weather while engaged in fishing activities. Following the incident, all communication between the fishermen and the shore had been completely lost.
After receiving a notification from the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Colombo immediately launched a special search operation, deploying naval vessels.
During a special search operation carried out over the past two days, naval vessels were able to locate the fishing boat and the fishermen in waters beyond Analaitivu Island.
The Navy safely rescued the three fishermen yesterday (07) and also towed the distressed fishing vessel back to shore.
