The Food Policy and Security Committee met at the Presidential Secretariat to discuss measures required to address a possible El Niño situation in the future.
The meeting was chaired by Minister of Agriculture K.D. Lalkantha and Minister of Trade Wasantha Samarasinghe.
Attention was also focused on the potential impacts such a situation could have on the agricultural sector.
The Presidential Media Division stated that discussions were also held on managing this global challenge as an external threat, similar to how the country responded to Cyclone Ditwah and the conflict situation in the Middle East.
