Kaduwela Mayor Ranjan Jayalal says that when necessary, they will even take action by breaking in unlawfully to protect the government.
Speaking further at the annual convention of the Ceylon Electricity Employees’ Union, the Mayor said:
“The struggle is not over. We are now facing a huge challenge ahead. We fought against the privatisation of the Electricity Board… we are people who rose from the ashes. We are not serpents that have taken vows. We have the ability to transform at any moment, anywhere.
We will not allow this government to be overthrown. If there is even a little fear about us, keep that fear. We emphasise that. When necessary, we will protect this government even by breaking in unlawfully… we do not need anyone’s permission for that.”
