Police say a special programme will be implemented to seize motorcycles that are operated in a manner that causes public disturbance by producing excessive noise during the Poson festival period.
Speaking to Hiru News, Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wootler stated that, just as strict action was taken against noisy motorcycles during the recent Vesak season, the same laws will be enforced during the Poson Poya period as well.
Accordingly, strict inspections will be carried out through police roadblocks and mobile patrols targeting motorcycles fitted with modified silencers and those emitting noise beyond permitted sound limits.
