'We are working assuming we will remain in power,' says Minister Lal Kantha

Agriculture, Lands, Irrigation and Livestock Minister K.D. Lal Kantha says that the National People’s Power (NPP) is operating with the determination that it will remain in power continuously.

Speaking at a ceremony held to issue new appointments to employees of the Livestock Development Board, the Minister further stated:

“We are determined that we will remain in power continuously. We have now come and abolished MPs’ pensions, abolished official residences for ministers, and increased the parliamentary allowance from what was 125 to 2000. Earlier, they used to ‘eat the whole day’ for 125 rupees. There is something wrong there, and it becomes visible when you look at ministers like Nimal Siripala.

When we came, there was a fertiliser subsidy of 30,000 rupees for two hectares. Now we are giving 60,000. Some people say in various places that fertiliser prices are high. Yes, they are high. That happens due to global conditions. But people don’t see that the 30,000 was increased to 60,000. What do they see? They only see the fertiliser price increase during this crisis.”
