A total of 14 individuals have been convicted in bribery and corruption cases heard before courts during the past four months, according to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
The Commission stated that the convictions were related to 13 separate cases.
These details were included in the Commission’s monthly progress report, which noted that those found guilty include both civilians and several public officials holding various positions.
Among those convicted were four civilians, a police constable, a sub-inspector of police, two quasi-judicial officers, a Grama Niladhari, a development coordination officer, a beat officer, a health administrator, a former Director of Human Resources of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, and a labour officer.
Accordingly, a total of 14 individuals were convicted by courts in connection with 13 bribery or corruption cases during the past four months.
