Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has emphasised that the government is making significant efforts to ensure quality education for children, and therefore, programmes that do not receive official government approval and are submitted by various organisations or parties should not be allowed to be conducted within the school system.
The Prime Minister made these remarks while attending a special discussion held yesterday (17) at the North Central Provincial Council premises in Anuradhapura with education authorities of the North Central Province.
During the meeting, the current situation of the education sector in the province was extensively reviewed, and provincial education officials presented several key issues they are facing to the Prime Minister.
Accordingly, attention was also given to academic, welfare, and administrative issues within the province’s school system. The Prime Minister further stated that steps will be taken to provide prompt solutions to these issues while ensuring the right to education for children.
