A group of madel (beach seine) fishermen commenced a satyagraha in front of the Presidential Secretariat due to the failure to announce a proper programme or decision regarding the operation of their industry.
The All Island Beach Seine Association launched this satyagraha, according to the reporter.
Beach seine fishermen previously held a protest in front of the Presidential Secretariat over the government's failure to announce a programme for their industry.
However, they dispersed at that time based on a promise given by authorities to provide solutions to their issues within a few months.
