Several spells of rain may occur today in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Northwestern provinces, and Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts
The Department of Meteorology announced in a statement that several rounds of rain may occur today (24), in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2:00 p.m.
The statement noted that fairly strong winds blowing at times up to 30-40 kilometres per hour may occur on the western slopes of the central hills, and in the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Southern provinces, and in the Trincomalee district.
Furthermore, the department requested the public to take necessary measures to minimise accidents caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thundershowers.
