Northern province governor removes two local council officials

Vavuniya Mayor Sundaralingam Kanthipan and Chavakachcheri Urban Council Vice Chairman Gnanapragasam Kishore were removed from their posts and council memberships with immediate effect by Northern Province Governor N. Vedanayagan. The decision followed investigations conducted under the Municipal Councils and Urban Councils Ordinance. This order is issued to be effective from today (24).
