Showers will occur from time to time today (27) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Brief showers or thundershowers may develop in a few places in the Uva province and in the Ampara, Batticaloa, and Mullaitivu districts after 2:00 PM.
Fairly strong winds blowing intermittently at speeds of about 30 to 40 km/h are expected on the western slopes of the central hills, in the North-Central, North-Western, and Southern provinces, and in the Trincomalee district.
The department requests the public to take necessary precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur during thundershowers.
