Thirty five individuals injured in a road incident near the Diyatalawa railway crossing this morning (27) continue to receive treatment at the Diyatalawa Base Hospital.
Police stated that out of the 42 people initially admitted to the hospital, seven have already been discharged after receiving treatment.
The vehicle that met with the road incident, a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus travelling from Colombo to Badulla, due to a brake failure, had veered off the road and fallen down a 20-foot precipice onto a railway track running nearby.
The driver of the bus was also among those injured and admitted to the hospital, and the Police noted that they intend to record a statement from him.
