The Department of Meteorology predicts that fairly heavy rainfall, exceeding 50mm, may occur in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western Provinces, as well as in Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya Districts, within the next 36 hours.
Showers or thundershowers are also likely to occur at a few places in the Uva Province and the Ampara and Batticaloa Districts after 2 p.m.
The Department of Meteorology further notes that fairly strong winds, between 30 to 40 kmph, can be expected in the western slopes of the central hills, as well as in the North Central, North Western, and Southern Provinces, and the Trincomalee District.
