The Department of Meteorology issued an announcement stating that intermittent strong winds of approximately 40 to 50 kilometres per hour may occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, North Central, and North Western provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee district.
The department attributed this condition to the prevailing southwest monsoon across the island. Additionally, wind speeds may increase between 50 and 60 kilometres per hour in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankesanthurai to Pottuvil via Mannar, Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota.
