The Department of Railways cancelled two daily train services on the Kelani Valley line until further notice due to a lack of available power sets.
Effective from today (1), the 4.00 pm service from Colombo Fort to Avissawella and the 5.55 am service from Avissawella to Colombo Fort remain suspended.
General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Station Masters' Association, Kasun Chamara Jayasekara, stated that this decision follows the unavailability of power sets required to operate these trips.
The association noted that frequent cancellations are becoming a common occurrence within the department, causing severe distress and inconvenience to daily commuters relying on the Kelani Valley line.
