Bids called for the Central Expressway Kurunegala–Dambulla stretch

The cabinet approved a proposal to launch the procurement process for the first section of the Central Expressway Project’s fourth phase, spanning 38.5 kilometres from Kurunegala to Galewela.

Minister Nalinda Jayatissa stated that the government intends to execute this development in two parts, with the initial section—covering kilometre 78+000 to kilometre 116+500—funded entirely by the state.

The project prioritises domestic construction firms for the highway expansion.
