Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda, who faced arrest by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in connection with investigations into Yoshitha Rajapaksa, received bail today (03) from Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama.
The magistrate ordered the suspect released on two sureties of Rs.2.5 million each and imposed a travel ban.
The order followed the suspect's appearance in court today, where the Bribery Commission presented its case.
CIABOC alleged that in 2006, Yoshitha Rajapaksa was recruited as an executive branch cadet officer despite lacking the required qualifications.
Furthermore, authorities claim that public funds were misused to provide him with training at the Britannia Royal Naval College, violating established procedures.
