CID informs court investigations into Ranil’s London visit concluded

The Criminal Investigation Department informed Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena today (08) that all investigations were concluded regarding an incident where former President Ranil Wickremesinghe allegedly caused a loss of over Rs. 15 million to the government by travelling to London for the graduation ceremony of his wife, Professor Maithree Wickremesinghe, as a private visit during his tenure as president.

The notification was made when the case was called up before the court again today (08).

The CID informed the court that the investigation into this case is now over, and the file was forwarded for the Attorney General's advice.

Accordingly, the court ordered the case to be postponed until 30 September for the Attorney General's advice.
