Minister of Justice and National Integration Harshana Nanayakkara issued a gazette notification yesterday (08) to designate the old Bogambara prison as a detention facility once again.
This decision follows the recent incident at the Negombo prison, which necessitated the transfer of inmates to other locations.
In light of these developments, authorities established the new facility through this gazette.
Furthermore, the Minister issued a separate gazette notification the day before, converting the old Mahamodara hospital complex in Galle into a prison.
