The World Bank issued a certification stating that Sri Lanka is the fastest developing country in South Asia, Deputy Minister T. B. Sarath said.
The deputy minister mentioned that the current government took over the country at a time when the state treasury was empty, the country went bankrupt, and queues existed everywhere.
The deputy minister further stated that international bodies, including the World Bank, gave a certification last week that the country taken over in such a state became the fastest growing country in Asia.
