The Balapitiya Magistrate's Court today ordered Samagi Jana Balawegaya Ambalangoda Pradeshiya Sabha Councillor Amitha Chathuranga Samaranayake, who was arrested in possession of a repeater-type firearm, to be remanded in custody until July 24.
Balapitiya Magistrate Pavithra Sanjeevani issued the order after Police presented the suspect in court today.
The Galle District Crime Division arrested the councillor with the repeater-type firearm during a raid conducted on July 11.
