Officer Gunawardena who battled to save terminally ill son among the dead

Prison Police Special Intelligence Unit Officer P.D Sandika Gunawardena, who was battling to save the life of his terminally ill seven-year-old son, is among the officers who died during the Negambo prison clash.

His seven-year-old son suffers from heart disease, and the child's mother recently told Hiru News that a significant amount of funds is required to save the child's life.
She stated that her husband was the strength she had for that purpose.

The number of prison officers who lost their lives in the violent clash rose to 10 as of today reports.
