Roof repairs at the Nuwara Eliya Post Office commenced, Postmaster General S. R. W. M. R. P. Sathkumara said.
This was stated in response to an inquiry by the Hiru News division.
Accordingly, it is planned to develop the ground floor of the building to house a post office, a stamp section, a museum, a restaurant, and a souvenir shop, he added.
Furthermore, work began to convert the upper floor into a lodging facility for foreign tourists, and the Postmaster General noted that all these development activities are carried out under the supervision of the Department of Archaeology and the guidance of the Tourism Board.
