Jordan intercepts Iranian drones after continued US strikes

Fresh US attacks on Iran targeted “military command centres, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defence systems,” according to US Central Command.

Explosions were heard in areas across southern Iran, according to the country’s state media.

Jordan’s air defence systems intercepted and shot down three Iranian missiles targeting the country today, according to the Jordanian armed forces, which said that the interceptions caused no casualties or damage.

Nearly 100 US service members have suffered some level of injury since July 7, the Pentagon said, the majority of which were minor concussions.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran is “engaged in a full-scale war” that extends to Iran’s economy.

Meanwhile, Southeast Asian countries have expressed “serious concerns” about the renewed hostilities between the US and Iran, as the closure of the Strait of Hormuz again risks the region’s energy security.
