Four arrested over Wattala shooting

Four individuals, including a woman, were arrested suspected to ne linked to the fatal shooting of a person attending a party at an event hall in Kadirana, Palliyawatta in the Wattala police division.

An unidentified person, suspected to have arrived in a car, carried out the shooting last night (23) and fled the scene, the Police Media Division stated.

The individual who sustained severe injuries in the shooting died after admission to the Colombo National Hospital. The deceased was a 39-year-old resident of Borella, the division noted.

The murder occurred as a result of an escalating dispute between two groups of alleged drug traffickers, the Police suspect.
