A woman injured after a branch of a Mee tree located in the ancient temple premises in the Karandeniya area broke and fell on her died after being admitted to the Balapitiya Hospital, the Karandeniya Police said.
The deceased is a 65-year-old woman residing in the Karandeniya area itself.
The police said she was trapped under the fallen Mee tree branch when she visited the temple premises yesterday (26).
A three-wheeler parked nearby was also damaged due to the falling of this Mee branch.
The Karandeniya Police are conducting further investigations regarding this.
