A visitor who came to see his ailing father at the Horana District General Hospital assaulted a police officer and a female security guard in the afternoon and fled the scene, according to the Horana Headquarters Police.
The suspect is identified as a resident from the Bulathsinhala area.
The father of this individual was admitted to the Horana District General Hospital due to an illness, and he received treatment at the primary care unit.
The visitor arrived at the hospital in the afternoon and got into a dispute with a doctor, after which Police Sergeant 51847 Nissanka of the hospital police instructed him to leave the premises.
The suspect then struck the officer on the head, pushed a female security guard who inquired about the incident, and escaped in a car.
A security guard noted down a part of the registration number of the vehicle.
The injured police officer receives treatment at the primary care unit, and the police conduct investigations to arrest the suspect.
