General Sallay's petition recalled today

The Court of Appeal today is scheduled to take up the writ application filed by former State Intelligence Service head, Major General Suresh Sallay, challenging his arrest and detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

Deputy Solicitor General Suharshi Herath requested the court during yesterday's proceedings to dismiss the petition without a full hearing, arguing that recorded testimonies indicate interference in investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.

The bench comprising the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Rohantha Abeysooriya, and Justice Priyantha Fernando ordered that the petition be called again today for further consideration.
