Hiru Rajadharma Prathipada today at Kelaniya Temple

Everything is ready to conduct the Hiru Rajadharma Pratipada programme, organised by Hiru Media Network to mark the noble Esala Full Moon Poya Day, centring on the historic Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara.

During this grand religious festival, the great almsgiving for 1000 Buddhist monks, marking the largest almsgiving in history, will be offered for the second time under the leadership of Hiru Media Network Chairman Raynor Silva.

In addition, a Satbuddha Vandana, floral offering, incense offering, and a grand illumination pujan illuminating the Kelaniya Chaitya with six colours are scheduled to take place today.

The Hiru Rajadharma Pratipada programme is held under the devotional concept of Hiru Media Network Chairman Raynor Silva to mark the noble Esala Full Moon Poya Day.

Accordingly, numerous meritorious acts such as almsgiving, observing precepts, and meditation are conducted throughout the day at the Kelaniya sacred grounds.

For this grand almsgiving, a dining hall exceeding 300 metres in length is prepared once again this year, which is special as it becomes the largest dining hall ever constructed in the country.

Parallel to the Hiru Rajadharma Pratipada programme, many other material and spiritual offerings are conducted throughout the day centring on the historic Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara.

Subsequently, arrangements are made to conduct the grand illumination pujan, offering fragrant flowers, burning incense, illuminating the Kelaniya Great Stupa with six-coloured lights, and decorating the Kelaniya sacred grounds with electric lights.

Devotees are invited to receive the blessings and become participants in this most supreme worship ever conducted at the Kelaniya sacred grounds.
