Police constable dies shooting himself with duty firearm

A police officer attached to the Walana Anti-Corruption Strike Force has committed suicide by shooting himself with his duty firearm.

Police stated that the incident was reported around 5.30 a.m. today (29).

It was reported that the injured Constable was dead upon admission to the Panadura Hospital.

Police mentioned that the Constable was a 28-year-old resident of Murutalawa, Peradeniya.
