Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekera lodged a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CAIBOC) today (31) against the Cabinet decision to extend judicial retirement ages, alleging the move violated several provisions of the Bribery Act.
In the meantime, the French National Bar Council also expressed full support during its annual general meeting in Paris for the Bar Association of Sri Lanka opposing the government proposal, citing a letter sent to the president warning that the public would view raising judicial retirement ages as an undue interference with courts.
