Rain and wind conditions currently prevailing in the south-western parts of the island will continue today (01) due to the active south-west monsoon, the Department of Meteorology stated issuing an announcement.
Rain may occur from time to time in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western provinces, as well as in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
The announcement states that heavy rain of over 100 millimetres may occur in certain places.
Fairly light rain may occur in Matale, Anuradhapura, and Hambantota districts.
Mainly dry weather conditions prevail in the rest of the island.
The department stated that strong winds of around 40 to 50 kilometres per hour may blow from time to time in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Northern, North Central, Central, and North Western provinces, and in Moneragala and Trincomalee districts.
