President congratulates Rumesh Tharanga on Commonwealth Games gold

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake extended his congratulations to Sri Lankan national champion Rumesh Tharanga, who won a gold medal in the javelin throw event at the Commonwealth Games held in Scotland.

The President extended these congratulations by issuing a message via social media.

There, he stated, "Your gold medal at the Commonwealth Games turns the golden dream seen by the country into reality for us."

Meanwhile, Rumesh Tharanga demonstrated his skill by throwing the javelin to a distance of 89.75 metres.

Additionally, the silver medal in this competition went to Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra, while the bronze medal went to Indian athlete Yash Veer Singh.
