The Department of Meteorology issued an advisory stating that strong winds may occur in the Northern, North Central, North Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as in the Monaragala, Hambantota, and Trincomalee districts.
Strong winds reaching 40 to 50 kilometres per hour are expected in those areas due to the active southwest monsoon condition prevailing across the island.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall exceeding 100 millimetres may occur at certain locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts, according to the Department of Meteorology.
