Investigations have revealed that the shooting on Ratmalana-Kandawala road was orchestrated by a person named Bodowita Avishka, acting on the direction of Kanjipani Imran, an alleged organised criminal currently based abroad.
The shooting, which took place yesterday (01) afternoon, claimed the life of a man reported to be a money collector for the drug network of Ratmalana-based 'Kudu Anju.'
The victim (57) has been identified as Priyantha.
Two individuals who arrived on a motorcycle carried out the shooting before fleeing the scene.
Police suspect the shooting was carried out on behalf of Bodowita Avishka.
Police also suspect that this shooting may have been carried out in retaliation for the recent killing of a restaurant owner in Bellanwila.
