Reports indicate that individuals or an organised group are making phone calls using the name of Deputy Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development Chathuranga Abeysinghe, demanding money and engaging in various fraudulent activities.
The Deputy Minister disclosed this information in a post on his official social media account, specifically requesting that the public not fall victim to such fraudulent activities.
Accordingly, he has requested that people completely refrain from giving money, or exchanging personal information or official documents, with anyone who calls while misusing the Deputy Minister's name.
The Deputy Minister further stressed that if anyone receives such suspicious phone calls or messages, they should immediately inform the nearest police station or the relevant responsible authorities, and urged the public to remain constantly vigilant and act wisely to avoid falling victim to such organised scams.
