Europe's 1,400+ fires choke skies with 18M Tonnes of CO2

The large-scale wildfires that spread across Europe throughout July continue to expand further into August.

Intense heat waves in countries such as Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal, along with these wildfires, have subjected people to severe hardship.

The French President states that the wildfire spreading in France has been brought under control.

Meanwhile, the European Union says that 434,976 hectares of land have been destroyed by wildfires since the beginning of the year.

It is also noted that 1,407 wildfires have been identified across Europe, through which 17.98 million tonnes of carbon dioxide have been released into the atmosphere.

Since temperatures are expected to remain high in August as well, meteorologists have warned of a further risk of wildfires breaking out.

Against this backdrop, a massive wildfire has also broken out near the city of Spokane in Washington State, USA.

It is reported that this wildfire has already spread across 3,000 acres of land.

Due to the wildfire risk, security authorities have repeatedly instructed the public to evacuate the area immediately.
