3 collisions in Dambulla within an hour

Several individuals, including a mother and daughter, were hospitalized with severe injuries due to three road crashes that occurred within a one-hour period in Dambulla, police informed.

The first crash occurred today (03) in front of the Dambulla Headquarters Police, when a mother and daughter travelling on a motorcycle from Matale towards the Dambulla Court collided with a lorry driving from the opposite direction.

Due to the crash, the lorry fell into a drain in front of the Dambulla Police, and a police notice board was also damaged.

About five minutes after this crash occurred, the second crash was reported at the Ibbankatuwa Reservoir junction on the Dambulla-Kurunegala main road, our correspondent mentioned.

A person crossing the road got severely injured after being hit by a motor car, and he was also taken to the Dambulla Hospital with the help of residents.

Later, the third crash occurred near the Dambulla-Kekirawa bus stop in the middle of Dambulla town.

A bus collided with the rear of a lorry parked there, causing severe damage to the bus, police state.

Dambulla Headquarters Police are conducting further investigations into the incidents.
