A person was arrested on charges of possessing and trafficking 11 kg 844 g of narcotics valued at around Rs 11 million (Rs 11,000,000.00) during a special raid conducted yesterday (04) by a team of officers from the Gonahena Special Operations Unit of Police STF.
The arrested individual is a 31-year-old resident of the Dombawala area in Udugampola.
According to Police, the suspect was arrested near the Ambagahawatta Junction in the Dombawala Grama Niladhari Division belonging to the Minuwangoda police division along with a motorcycle and Rs 500,000 in cash, and presented to the Minuwangoda Police Station for further investigations.
Information revealed that the arrested suspect is a close associate of 'Malka', who manages a drug network currently from Italy and is a follower of the alleged organised criminal and drug trafficker Kehelbaddara Padme.
