A mother and her son died following a collision between a private passenger bus and a motorcycle in the Damanayaya area in Bakamuna on the Dambulla-Mahiyanganaya main road, this morning (11).
The deceased were a 63-year-old mother and her 43-year-old son.
The deceased man's one-and-a-half-year-old son sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the Polonnaruwa Hospital.
They met with the collision while returning home after attending a birthday party in the Kalundewa area.
The relevant bus was travelling from Colombo to Kalmunai, and the collision occurred when the motorcycle travelling ahead attempted to turn in the Damanayaya area.
Bakamuna Police arrested the bus driver in connection with the incident.
