The Kandy Magistrate's Court granted permission to the police to detain and question Dhanushka Kaushalya, alias 'Ratmalane Saima', a close associate of organised criminal gang leader 'Kanjipani Imran', for a period of 48 hours.
The suspect, arrested in Malaysia and brought back to the country yesterday (10) afternoon, was named as a main accused in two cases relating to a homicide and a kidnapping that occurred within the Peradeniya police division.
Open warrants were also issued against him due to his failure to appear before the court for the relevant cases.
Following his handover to the Peradeniya Police yesterday (10) night, this detention order was obtained after producing him before the Kandy Magistrate's Court, and further investigations are underway.
