Twelve female labourers sustained injuries and were admitted to the Dick Oya Basic Hospital today (11) after being attacked by wasps.
The attack targeted a group of estate workers who were plucking tea leaves at the Norwood Airby Estate.
Wasps, agitated when a hawk attempted to break a honeycomb from a wasp nest located at the top of a tree in the tea estate, attacked the estate workers, according to reports.
Eight of the injured individuals admitted to the hospital were discharged after receiving treatment, while the remaining group is receiving in-house treatment, a spokesperson for the Dick Oya Base Hospital stated.
