Hiru CIA exposes Khettarama Mawatha massive drug racket

Heroin trafficking operates without any fear or suspicion during the morning, afternoon, and night on Grandpass-Khettarama Mawatha. This happens even at a time when the 'Ratama ekata' National Operations Council focuses on implementing the death penalty for drug-related offences.

The M. Vincent Perera Stadium located in the area serves as a location used by traffickers for drug distribution, an investigation by Hiru CIA revealed.

Khettarama Mawatha, which runs near the R. Premadasa Stadium, spans about 400 metres in length to connect with the main road.

Organised heroin traffickers turned this narrow road into their latest hub for distributing drug powder.

The M. Vincent Perera Children's Playground is used for heroin distribution, and the racket operates four times a day, a drug addict revealed. The individual noted that instead of one person, two or three individuals arrive to sell drugs, carrying out the trade near the middle of the playground.

A single packet sells for 1,000 rupees, and traffickers hide heroin in various places, including flower beds on Khettarama Mawatha.

Traffickers sometimes arrive in three-wheelers as well as on motorcycles to traffic heroin without any fear or suspicion, and arguments also take place among them.

The Hiru CIA team informed local security forces on several occasions regarding these drug operations conducted by traffickers who seized control of Khettarama Mawatha.

However, these traffickers still maintain this drug racket openly even in broad daylight.
