The dry weather will intensify in several areas of the country, creating much difficulty to the public, according to the Met Department forecasts.

The public faced severe difficulties due to the intensifying dry weather conditions in several areas of the country.

The people of the Northern, North Central, and Eastern Provinces, as well as the Monaragala District, remain affected by the prevailing dry weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the heat index felt by the human body could remain at a level requiring attention in certain areas of the Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa, Batticaloa, Ampara, and Monaragala Districts tomorrow as well, the Department of Meteorology announced.

A drinking water crisis has emerged in certain areas against such a backdrop in the face of receding water levels in reservoirs.

Inland fishermen, farmers, and dairy farmers in the area faced severe difficulties due to the drying up of the Sinhagama Kalu Ulpatha Wewa belonging to the Hingurakgoda Divisional Secretariat Division in the Polonnaruwa district. They pointed out that authorities should intervene and take formal measures regarding this.

However, rainfall sufficient to end the prevailing dry weather is expected from October, Director of the Forecasting Division of the Department of Meteorology Meril Mendis stated.
